Gargleblaster: Monkey

Too slow to reach the railings I watched Monkey fall, gather speed and break on the rocks far below. I knelt where she had stood, picking up her abandoned despair, wondering if its weight would pull me over the edge as well.

  1. I can’t believe this is only two sentences. I love the “picking up her abandoned despair” as well, and the image of kneeling is so powerful. Fantastic work!

  2. Powerful one there. Suicide (I’m assuming this is what happened here) is probably amongst the worst things us monkeys have learned to do…. Actually, do animals (apart from humans that is) commit suicide?
